SketchUp to Revit

Bring a SketchUp massing into Revit without re-exporting.

Group the SketchUp tags you need into a card and send it to the open Revit model. No DWG or IFC to export, import and clean up.

How it works

Three steps, no intermediate file.

  1. Step 1

    Connect both programs

Install PAULGA Studio, sign in, and connect the SketchUp and Revit plugins from inside the app. Keep both programs open on the same Windows PC.

  2. Step 2

    Group tags into a card

In PAULGA Studio, put the SketchUp tags you want to move into one card. The card follows the live model, so it always sends the current objects.

  3. Step 3

    Send it to Revit

Open the card's send menu and pick your Revit model. For more control, add a mapping node that sets a Revit category, type and creation mode for each tag.

What arrives in Revit

What you get on the Revit side.

The send copies geometry once. Here is exactly what the Revit model receives.

  • DirectShape in a real category

Each object lands as a DirectShape. Its category comes from the mapping you set, or from the tag name when it matches a Revit category. Everything else becomes Generic Model.

  • Components as family instances

SketchUp components placed without rotation or scaling can arrive as Generic Model family instances built from solids, so they carry volume and a type. Others fall back to DirectShape.

  • Native elements where they can be verified

When a tag name and the shape agree on a simple wall, floor, roof, ceiling, door, window, column or beam, Revit tries to build that element from a type already in your project. Anything it cannot verify stays DirectShape.

  • Edges as lines

In a mapping node you can send edges as model lines or detail lines instead of geometry.

Know the limits

  • Most objects arrive as DirectShape: they sit in the right category but are not editable walls or floors with Revit's own tools.
  • Components placed with rotation or scaling arrive as DirectShape, not as family instances.
  • It is a one-way copy, not a live link. Sending again imports a fresh copy rather than updating the last one.

FAQ

SketchUp to Revit, answered.

Anything else? Ask the guide chat in the corner.

Will my SketchUp model become real Revit walls and floors?

Only in simple, verifiable cases: a wall, floor, roof, ceiling, door, window, column or beam whose tag name and shape agree, using a type already in the project. Everything else arrives as DirectShape or a Generic Model family instance in the category you chose.

Can I use it for a massing or context model?

Yes. That is the common case: a SketchUp massing or site context sent into Revit as categorized geometry you can see and cut in sections while you model the building in Revit.

Do SketchUp and Revit need to be open at the same time?

Yes. Both programs run on the same Windows PC and connect to PAULGA Studio through its plugins. The app reads the card's objects from SketchUp and writes them into the open Revit model.

Does sending between programs cost anything?

PAULGA Studio is free to download from the Microsoft Store or as an installer. Credits are only for AI image and video generation.
